What Is an Accident Report?

After a car accident, the police are typically called to the scene. Officers will review the accident scene, ask questions, and talk to involved parties and witnesses.

After they have gathered enough information, they take these details and turn them into a police report. Police reports are essential for car accident claims and typically include:

  • Name and information of all parties involved;
  • Date, time, and location of the accident;
  • Description of the vehicles and accident;
  • Details regarding any injuries sustained by either party;
  • Visual representation of the accident;
  • Any citations given at the scene; and
  • Any other relevant details.

After the accident report has been generated, involved parties or their representatives can obtain a copy of the report.
